Wintershall has over 75 years experience in the transportation of unrefined oil. On a worldwide scale they focus on so-called strategic regions.

The North Sea platform K13A – found in sector JO13OF – is safeguarded and controlled with a Honeywell DCS solution. It is done locally as well as in Wintershall’s new control centre in Den Helder.

The DCS application of Honeywell supports Video Over IP, and it uses a Dexcam 14 camera for the local tracking of receiving and sending so-called P.I.G.’s. These pipeline inspection gauges are used for internal inspection and/or for cleaning the pipelines. Because of the low bandwidth load the communication from and to platform K 13A is realised through radio connections, so it will be possible to use the camera for remote monitoring.

The Dexcam serie is perfectly suited for use in explosion risk settings as well as in the Offshore business, mainly because the cameras are made of stainless steel 316. All cameras are also equipped with a Heater/Fan combination… when the temperature changes the units can be held at a constant temperature.

Because the Dexcam operates perfectly on open platforms it can easily and rapidly be integrated into the Honeywell application.
